An award-winning four-bedroom Brighton house was needing a facelift after 19 years of family living. Children had now grown and flown the nest and it was time to reimagine the interior – updates to reflect the clients’ passion for indoor/outdoor entertaining, running businesses from home and wanting to create the most welcoming space for friends and family to enjoy. The children may have grown up but this house remains a hive of activity, business meetings, dinner and pool parties.

The Inform house had great bones however all flooring needed replacing; kitchen, bathrooms and powder rooms updated and new working spaces added into the floorplan. New engineered floorboards went over existing floors to transform the look of the house, and also improve insulation and reduce energy costs; the latest WiFi sound system was installed and even smart toilets (with built in bidet) were added to the bathrooms. Fresh carpets in sitting rooms and bedrooms now complement the soft white palette for furnishings. The new kitchen features a five-metre bench with tall black bench seating contrasting with the sunny white casual dining area.

The formal living room features eight-seater dining, custom bar and lounge area with dramatic black mirrors and chandeliers setting the elegant tone. The monochrome palette flows into the informal living areas which were restyled with dreamy white crescent sofas and lounges; new indoor plants and beautiful objects that hold precious family memories – books, photos and souvenirs. Pops of color are added through paintings, photographs and Tina’s custom cushions.

One of the most striking elements of the redesign is Tina’s selection of custom chandeliers, pendants, lamps and other specialist lighting in kitchen, living and outdoor areas. Even the home office has a statement chandelier. At all hours, the house is perfectly lit, injecting a beautiful atmosphere and sophistication across the home.

Tina’s makeover also worked to bathe the house in priceless natural light with the floorplan reworked to blur the lines between inside/outside. Garden views are maximised and large scale doors and windows help to bring the outside in, with state-of-the-art blinds and shade to ensure maximum comfort year round. New landscaping and Tina’s selection of indoor plants and fresh cut flowers ensure lush greenery is part of every space in this vibrant family compound.
