Tina's Caramelised Onions

Ingredients list
- 6 Spanish red onions
- 2 teaspoons balsamic glaze
- Salt, to taste
- Olive oil
Method
Chop the onions into chunky rings.
Heat a deep pan over low heat and add a generous drizzle of olive oil.
Add the onions and stir well. Simmer gently for 30–35 minutes, stirring consistently to prevent burning. The goal is soft, translucent onions — patience is key!
In the final 5 minutes, add the balsamic glaze and stir to coat the onions thoroughly.
Serve as a delicious side or use to enhance your favourite recipes.
Notes:
- You can substitute balsamic glaze with 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar.
- For a simpler version, skip the sugar and use the glaze directly — whichever you prefer!
